But this game is a complete let down. If i didn't love the characters this much I wouldn't have finished it. Not that there is much to finish. This game barely has a story and the combat is mediocre at best.Compared to celenrated beat 'em up style games like the Batman franchise this is a laugh. It works but it's so boring and one dimensional. There is barely any depth to it and when you enter Rage mode (Rorshach) you can win any fight easily especially when you get the automatic counter ability. Buy it for the story? Maybe, on sale. But only if you absolutely want to see everything that has anything to do with watchmen. There is no other reason.The couple of hours I spent in this game where an subpar way to waste them. I do not recommend this game. If you really want to see what it is, watch a playthrough.. This game is so immersive and reminds me of all the watchmen comics with precision.. I walked on the docks and mused about how society has failed criminals and not vice versa, while simultaneously breaking said criminals necks. Overall a quite amusing, if a little repetitive, action game. A little too short but i will give it an 8.5/10 Would fight crime in a trenchcoat again.. Watchmen Part 1 is not a particularly great game, but it is decent enought to get a pass for fans of Watchmen. This is basically a 3D version of an oldschool beat-em-up, which in and of itself makes it worth at least checking out, as there aren't many of those games being made these days. You get to play as Rorschach and Nite Owl and you go through a series of levels beating up bad guys. The combat is surprisingly decent and Rorschach's moves feel appropriately brutal (Never actually got around to playing as Nite Owl). As the game progresses, you learn new moves, which helps to keep things somewhat fresh. The visuals are actually pretty good, and the comic style cutscenes are nicely done (they did a decent job of making the artwork look like that of Dave Gibbons, who drew the original comic and was actually art director on this). The storyline certainly isn't on the same level as something Alan Moore would write, but it is pretty interesting and the characters get into a few interesting philosophical discussions (Len Wein, who wrote the script on this was the editor of the original comic book). You also get to see some characters who were only mentioned by name in the book, which is neat.Where this game really feels weak is that it starts to get repetitive. There's really only maybe two or three types of enemies in the entire game (although they have different skins on each level, in an attempt to create the illusion of variety). This hurts the game a great deal in my opinion, because it is basically non-stop fights, broken up with the occasional puzzle to solve. This game is only about three hours long, so it ended before the repetition got too boring, but it did start to wear down on me about halfway through and had the game had been longer I probably would have been more negative about it. Overall, this isn't too bad if you get it on sale. Don't expect the next Double Dragon, but it's passable.. It shows the story of Rorschach and Nite Owl before the Watchmen comic. Awesome. There is also a lockpicking minigame but it looks so out of place and would rather suit some stealth action. So on the pros side it's a bet'em up that can be played with your fellow bro in local co-op and on the cons side the game is very repetetive and has nothing to offer except simple fighting systems. I'm not even sure the DC/Watchmen fans would like it.. Completed this game.The cutscenes were NOT good [which I was looking forward to based on reviews]the voice acting was OKAY,the combat was BAD.Maybe worth five bucks if you really like Watchmen.Edit: 80% of my play time was being lost in same looking hallways in similar levels with identical enemies.. Not great, but not bad if you are a fan of the genre.
